The following editorial is a formal response to the September 2007 visit of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad to Columbia University.

The Moral Failure of Our Time

In late September 2002, Larry Summers, past President of Harvard delivered a speech at the Morning Prayer service of the Memorial Church of Harvard, a non-denominational Protestant congregation. What he said shook the academic world. "Serious and thoughtful people," he declared, "are advocating and taking actions that are anti-Semitic in their effect, if not in their intent." Summers had earlier rejected a petition signed by 69 Harvard professors calling for divestiture from Israel, a new term calling upon American universities to divest their endowment portfolios of any companies doing business with Israel as a sign of protest and designed to threaten Israel economically.

On Tuesday, November 28th, Prince Turki al-Faisal al-Saud, the Saudi ambassador to Washington came to the Houlihan-McLean Center of the University of Scranton to share his thoughts on the Middle East and tell us there will be no peace in the Middle East unless and until the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has been resolved.
The World According to Walt

You’d think that a country that produced fifteen of the nineteen 9/11 hijackers, that is the epicenter for worldwide global Islamic jihad, that supports, sponsors and funds terrorists around the world, that “purchases” Chairs in Middle East and Islamic Studies at America’s major ivy league colleges (many of which have become Arab-subsidized lobbies against Israel), that has huge multinational corporations at its beck and call, that boasts connections high in the petroleum industry, lobbies Congress against energy independence, spends millions of petrodollars on American PR companies to market a quieter, gentler image, builds mosques and funds Islamic libraries throughout America that promote virulently anti-American, anti-Semitic and anti-Western positions, constructs American Islamic educational institutes that spin-off Wahhabi-trained chaplains for our military and penitentiary systems, turns former American ambassadors to Saudi Arabia into Saudi lobbyists and has over $600B invested in our investment and equity markets……would merit a major study or research paper from a prestigious American university.
The Battle for the American Campus

College students got some bad press last May with the release of a poll conducted by the Luntz Research Co. for the group Americans for Victory over Terrorism. "Only 16% believe Western culture is superior to Arab culture," the poll found, "but 79% do not." If true; it explains a lot about what’s happening on the campuses of America.
